Hi Kursad, We actually did not do much besides supplements during radiotherapy and we avoided high doses of antioxidants. Our treatment plan was based on Ben Williams research. You can download his updated treatment options for Glioblastoma on this website and www.virtualtrials.org and also his book...

Good help is hard to find...

Hi Chris, When Don presented to our (new) oncologist 7 months after his initial diagnosis, he had almost completely lost his speech with a 6 cm mass in the left parietal region. Our oncologist booked him in for immediate surgery and we then discussed the cocktail of drugs that we wanted Don to start...

To test or not to test?

Hi Chris, For about 2 1/2 years Don was taking 100mg 14/14, for the first year he also took Procarbazine. He then stayed on a cocktail (with clear scans) of Temodal 14/14, Thalidomide, Celebrex, Tamoxifen and Accutane. After about 3 years on Temodal he started to reduce the cocktail and have a break...

To test or not to test?

Hi Chris, Hi Ross, Chris, my husband too appears to have Giant cell Glioblastoma (now 4 1/2 years from diagnosis). GCGBM I believe are only 5% of GBM's. He does not have mutated P53 and did not have favorable MGMT methylation. In fact when tested at UCLA his tumour fell under the worst prognosis GBM...

Ruta

We buy Dr. Block's ultra reishi ordered through Jeanne Wallace. I can't give you much more info on the Ruta, I initially ordered quite a bit from all over the place (american sources) but we don't use it anymore. Don scans were good when I added it and worse after being on it for a few months. Best ...

For Joanna.

Joanna, I would consider speaking to your oncologist about continuos low dose Temodal as the survival is significantly greater than the standard protocol. If cost is not an issue, Avastin is worth considering. If using Temodal you could look at adding Thalidomide and Chloroquine, that would be worth...

Trial.

I think it is available in a couple hospitals in Sydney. I think Dr. Charlie Teo and North Shore is also offering the trail, but I'm not exactly sure.

Temodal time.

Hi Beryl, I find that just before bed at least 2 hours after food is best for Don. He has maintained this schedule for over 3 1/2 years without ever feeling unwell or using anti-nausea meds. I find just before bed you sleep on it and hopefully bypass the side effects. Don takes a low continuos dose ...

Trial.

Hi Femme, My name is Uschi and my husband is a 4 yr survivor of a GBM. I am sorry to hear about your daughter, she is very young and it must be a huge shock to everyone. David Walker is a very good surgeon, who is your daughters oncologist? The trial that Dr. Walker is offering, I think is a multi-c...

bands for brains.

Yes, there are still some bands available. You can call Heather from Sydney neuro oncology group on Ph: 02 8425 3369 to order them.

Luckily, they have been selling well.

Thanks,

Uschi.

Avastin cost.

It is actually $4,500.00 per infusion. That is based on 10mg dose not the original 5mg dose. 10mg is thought to be more effective. It is given every 2nd week. If adding CPT-11 you are looking at a cost of around $11,000.00 a month! The deal now appears to be every 3rd infusion of Avastin is free. Ho...

Don's update.

In Jan 2006 Don had further surgery to remove a new small tumour on the opposite side to the original tumour site. The surgery went very well and Don is feeling great. He has just started CPT-11, Avastin and Temodal with no problems or side effects. Recently Prof. Avani Sali requested an update on D...

melatonin.

Hi Sally,

You can order 3mg, 5mg and 10mg capsules through the Life extension foundation, it will only take a few days to arrive. Otherwise, if you want to purchase it here, you need a script and a compounding pharmacist to prepare the capsules.

Hope all is well with you and Ashe.
