My wife Angela turns 50 this month, GBM 4 diagnosed late April, surgery, chemo and radio. Now on 2nd phase of chemo (5 / 23 X 6 months ending January 2008). Specialists say she looks great and that's a positive.
Inspired by many stories on this site, we don't feel so much alone. Every day prior to a sip of champagne we affirm and celebrate our love and realise it is a far bigger thing than a poxy GBM4. We are in Blue Mountains NSW (Blackheath). Are there any of you passing through at any time? Would love to welcome you for a coffee.
Kind regards
John & Angela

Dear John & Angela

I too am Angela & live in Australia - Brisbane to be exact. I was born in Sydney & lived most of my life in Port Macquarie! It's so good to be talking/writing to you!

So sorry to hear of Angela's dianosis. It's a tough road this one, with lots of twists & turns. I was pleased to hear Angela is doing well & I hope she continues on this positive path.

I have been an active member on another cancer forum & have received so much support, comfort & information, it's hard to express how greatful I am to so many.

When my Bro - Mark - was diagnosed I was keen to learn as much as poss about this dreaded foe - GBMIV! So naturally turned to the internet for help. Mark was overwhelmed with info early on & actually asked me to back off a bit (he would have been copping it from every which way & telling his sister to back off was easier than telling his friends to bugger off)! Anyway he didn't have any luck & I have continued to "meekly" (altho "meek" is not a word oft used in my vocab) offer my input wherever & whenever possible. I am lucky I live only just over an hour away from him on the Gold Coast. My Mum & Sister live down there too. We are a very close family.

Mark has had many ups & downs since Feb. Probably more downs but he is able to rise above most of it with his fantastic sense of humour & fighting spirit.

I plan to post a story about Mark but initially wanted to say hello to a few Aussies on here first.

Please send me a PM or alternately I will keep an eye out for a post from you. I can assure you I love to "have a chat" & look forward to offering you support, comfort & even a little information.

PS Has Angela been treated by Charlie Teo in Sydney? We tried to get Mark down there for a 2nd opinion but being a stubborn Male he has stuck with the same neurosurgeon on the GC.

Take care & cheers, Aussie Angie.
